What is optical processing

The process of turning optical materials, such as crystal, glass (optical glass) and optical resin specially used for making various concave convex lenses and prisms, into lens, prism and other optical parts as required is optical processing, including manual grinding and mechanical processing. Optical glass or resin sheet, which is cut into a material suitable for processing the shape of eyeglass, is eyeglass blank.

Since the laser has a series of advantages such as good directivity, high energy and good monochromaticity, it has been highly valued by the scientific research field since it came out in the 1960s, promoting the rapid development of many fields, especially the application of laser in the processing field. The traditional laser processing machine has been widely used in industrial products, and has also received extensive attention in laser micro processing in recent years.

Laser micromachining is of great significance to the production of electronic devices, medical and automotive products with complicated structures of small holes or small grooves. Because the hole diameter and groove size of this kind of products are smaller and smaller, and the tolerance of these dimensions is more and more strict. Only laser can meet the requirements for micro machined parts from 1 μ M to 1mm. Laser processing has a small thermal action area, which can accurately control the processing range and depth to ensure high repeatability, good edges and wide versatility.
